SMREx is a simple, complete, and cost effective National Health Information Exchange (HIE) solution which levels the playing field for all medical practices. Even the smallest practice can easily and affordably participate in the sharing of sensitive medical information irrespective of affiliation with a larger network or organization. With SMREx, MedUnity has eliminated the need for expensive private or regional HIEs and Regional Health Information Organization (RHIO) networks that not only have significant up front costs and can take years to implement, but also have substantial on-going maintenance costs. SMREx will soon allow groups of practices to create their own Virtual Regional Health Information Organizations (VRHIO’s) at a fraction of the cost of the more traditional community-based models.
